Social Media Marketing & Events Intern for Fall 2023

Job Description

The CalAsian Foundation is seeking a Social Media Marketing Intern for Fall 2023 to assist in building awareness of the organization and its programs. This person will perform administrative, creative, and logistical tasks related to program support, marketing and communications, social media and website management, and community and audience engagement both within and outside of the Foundation.

Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Program Manager to support the Foundation programs and events
  2. Coordinate the logistics for the Foundation programs and events
  3. Attend Foundation and community events to assist with program outreach and education
  4. Create marketing materials and social media campaigns to build awareness of the Foundation and its programs
  5. Manage the Foundation social media platforms, newsletter, and website
  6. Engage social media audiences to increase social media following
  7. Support the Foundation team as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Ability to work independently with minimal direction, but also be a team player
  2. Strong time management skills: self-motivated and possess a proactive approach to meeting deadlines
  3. Ability to effectively communicate with the Foundation Team, other Chamber staff, community organizations, and program participants
  4. Detail-oriented and accurate
  5. Access to transportation to get to- and from- the Foundation office, program sessions, Foundation and community events, and other opportunities
  6. Access to a laptop with internet access

Required Skills & Experiences

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  2. Excellent organization skills
  3. Proficiency in the use of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
  4. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and/or Google Workspace including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Forms
  5. Proficiency in the use of other productivity and design software and applications including Zoom, Asana, Canva, and MailChimp

Must be available between 8:30am – 5:00pm for at least 15 hours weekly with some opportunities to attend evening and weekend events and outreach activities. However, we are flexible with your schedule. Your time commitment and length of internship will be agreed upon prior to the start of the internship. This position is primarily remote with some in-person meetings, program sessions, and events. 

This is an unpaid internship.
